The Mystery of Lady Lydia Dustbin's Diamonds PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 14 February 2009 18:53

Brough Girling & Tony Blundell

It's famous Lady Lydia's wedding day! But her groom is rather suspicious, he is in fact a diamond robber!!! He is doing everything possible to steal Lydia's diamonds. He doesn't succeed but about 9 people die!!

I think this book is about 9.5 out of 10 because it's exciting but violent. I was naughty and stayed up late reading it, don't do that though!!! I'd say its for 7,8 year olds.

Anthony Horowitz

A boy called Mathew Freeman (who wants to be called Mattand is 15) robs a warehouse with a friend for lots of expensive computer games. He is sent away to a place were witches live. The witches and a man , Salimanda, want to bring back 'The Old Ones' (some hideous creatures who want to take over the world). Matt is sent to the place where the witches are and a secret organization ,The Nexus, are watching over Matt : he has special powers one of five (Matt, Scar, Pedro, Scott and Jamie). Matt has to close down the gate in the place were the witches are living.

I thought the book was really interesting because Anthony Horowitz describes everything really well. I think anybody from year four and above would enjoy reading this book. I would rate this book 4/5.

Terry Deary

Slimy Stuarts is a series of history fact books. Terry Deary has written very interesting facts about Stuart life. There is Highwaymen and kings, plots and danger. It is very interesting and strange. Some facts are really disgusting and might make you sick but it is a very good fact book, especially if you are doing that subject in your class.

I thought it was a very good, interesting book. I learnt a lot from it. It gives you lots of information and I would rate this book 10000001/1000000. I would say maybe for years 4,5 and 6.

Esmie really wants to know about her mum who died when she was born. When a new girl arrives at Esmie's school called Navanda and tells Esmie she has psychic powers, Esmie asks Nevanda if she could tell her a bit about her mum. Meanwhile while Esmie is with Nevanda, Esmie's brother Matthew is hanging out with his best friend Jake and they are up to some naughty tricks!!! Spray painting cars, painting the school sine and all sorts of crazy stuff. When Esmie's dad finds out about what Matthew is doing he is furious and tells Matthew he is grounded until further notice. But what about his date with Jennifer? If he misses it she might get back with her stupid ex-boyfriend Jake he will be doomed!!! he has to figure out a way to go out with Jennifer... but how?

This book is an amazing book. I couldn't keep my eyes of it for long. it was so gripping and I had to read on no matter what. I love it when at the end of a chapter it says, "But will Esmie find out about her mum..." I just hate it when I am about to get to the good part and I have to go to bed, ahhhhhhhh!!! I would give this book 9/10 because its a great book.
